Education: Alyssa considers herself fortunate to have discovered the arts at an early age. She began studying classical ballet at the age of 5 in Riverside, California and continued her studies at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy. Alyssa graduated high school at 15 and moved to Los Angeles, solo, to find work as an actress. She attended the Young Actor’s program at the Lee Strasbgerg Theatre and Film Institute. While participating in the Young Actor’s program, she executed roles such as Eve in Eugene Butler’s original play, Adam and Eve, Celimene in The Misanthrope, and Melibea/Isabelle/ Hippolyta in The Illusion. In 2010, she enrolled in Studio XRT’s conservatory where she studied Shakespeare, Improvisation, Fitzmaurice voice work, Sketch Comedy, Viewpoints, Suzuki and The S & I Technique.

Professional Experience: Since adolescence, Alyssa has made her living appearing in numerous television commercials throughout the U.S. and in Europe. In 2010 she made her XRT debut as Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire. One month later, she performed alongside her fellow conservatory graduates as Yelena in Uncle Vanya.

XRT Acting Credits: Stella (A Streetcar Named Desire), Yelena (Uncle Vanya)

What the XRT Means To Me…: The XRT is every artist’s utopian fantasy . A place where experimentation and attempt are valued over result and success. We are a community of artists who push craft to the limits in a quest to defy theatrical norms.

Why I Do What I Do…: At the risk of sounding idealistic, I believe that great performance has the power to evoke transcendence in an audience. I’m not sure where it comes from, but I’ve always wanted to be that performer.

Did You Know? Alyssa’s favorite full-length ballet is Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s Romeo and Juliet.
