Beth Gudenrath

Position: Rep Company, Faculty Member
Classes Taught: VOICE AND SPEECH
Education: Beth moved to LA to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts after studying theatre performance at Northwest MO State University. Now a native Californian, she’s put herself through her own intensive training program for almost 10 years now, studying acting with Stuart Rogers, including his Teacher Training Certification, and studying the voice, breath, and body with Saul Kotzubei, Master Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework. She’s been teaching and assisting Fitzmaurice Introductory Intensives and classes for 4 years and has been teaching privately for over 3 years. She is currently enrolled in the 2 year Fitzmaurice Teacher Certification program, and is still learning from her teachers and students every day.
Professional Experience: Very involved in the Los Angeles theatre circuit, Beth is a proud member of Theatre Tribe and has performed in many of their critically acclaimed plays including “The Intern” in which she played the title character. Other Tribe credits: West Coast Premiere of “Sympathetic Magic,” “Specter,” “The Parrot,” “An Afternoon with Dorothy Parker,” “Ludlow Fair,” among others. She’s performed several times at Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theatre including the role of Shelby in “Steel Magnolias” sharing the stage with Beth Grant and Kathryn Jooston, and along the side of JoAnne Worley in “Hansel and Gretel.” At the Court Theatre: “Office Hours,” and “Leather, Sculpture, Tourmaline, and Gold.” On the big screen you can see Beth next to Anne Hathaway and Mandy Moore in “The Princess Diaries I and II,” as well as several other independent films. TV credit highlights include “Medium,” and a recurring role on “American Dreams,” to name a very few, and several soaps.
What the XRT Means To Me…: When I moved to LA, I was very young, and thirsting for this type of community and program! All of the teachers and students are so committed to the work and to pushing themselves and their art to the next level. XRT is a safe place to explore and learn process. There is an openness and a respectful understanding and willingness to jump in and try, and just do. You gain the most when you are free to fail and grow and learn from yourself and the other students. I feel very honored and proud to be a part of this program and this team, putting actors and artists out into the world who believe in themselves and their art and their process and who truly make the world a better place. History is measured by the art of the time, these are the artists of my generation.
Why I Do What I Do…: Because I can’t do anything else! This is my life. My life’s work. My contribution to the world. My gift. I’m destined to live the life of an artist…so here we go…
Did You Know? Beth has a daughter who is her best teacher. And there’s nothing better than laughter, good music, tasty wine, old friends and warm California sunset.
