Arden Kaywin

Education: Arden Kaywin holds a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from The Manhattan School of Music in New York City where she studied classical voice and opera. She did her undergraduate work at Oberlin College and Conservatory earning a Bachelors of Music degree in Classical Voice, and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science. Miss Kaywin was a fellow at The Aspen Music Festival, an Artist In Residence with Centro Studi Italiani, and a Young Artist with The San Francisco Opera.
Professional Experience: As a performer, Miss Kaywin has two sides to her young career. She has performed with major opera companies across the country including Opera Theater of St.Loius, The San Francisco Opera, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and The Aspen Opera Theater. She is also an accomplished singer/songwriter well known in the indie pop world for her thoughtful, witty songwriting and her powerful voice. Miss Kaywin’s first album, Quarter Life Crisis (PEGA Records 2006), earned her accolades such as a nomination for Pop Song of the Year by the Independent Music Awards, and Editor’s Pick on Smother.net alongside Coldplay and The Dave Matthews Band. Her second album, The Elephant in the Room, released in the Fall of 2008 and has been nominated for a few Best of 2008 awards, including Musiqtone’s Indie Artist of the Year, Next Big Hit - Top 10 Albums of 2008, and Rockwired Reader’s Poll for Best Album, Best Female Artist, and Best Song for “Let It Go”. Miss Kaywin’s songs have been featured on numerous television shows on MTV, NBC, ABC and The CW networks, including the show Deliver Me on Discovery Channel for which she wrote and performed the theme song.

What the XRT Means To Me…: I joined XRT to be around like-minded creative artists in Los Angeles who aspire to bring their talents to the larger community and to pass those talents on through teaching.
Why I Do What I Do…: I have had the benefit of fantastic mentors and teachers in my career and it excites me to be able to give actors a set of musical tools to use for their performance benefit.
