Aaryn Kopp

Education: Aaryn Kopp received her B.F.A in theatre from West Virginia University. Upon graduation, she traveled to Cambridge, MA, to work and study with faculty from the Moscow Art Theatre. Her training includes extensive study in Linklater technique; also Viewpoints and Suzuki, Stanislavsky Scene Study, Shakespearean performance, and Alexander Technique.
Professional Experience: Aaryn has performed across the nation: from Philadelphia to San Diego at various regional theatres. Favorite theatre credits include Twelfth Night (Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival), Proof (The Ritz Theatre), The Pillowman (Wilma Theatre), and The Women (The Old Globe).
What the XRT Means To Me…: I joined XRT because I believe strongly in its founding principles of shaping the next generation of theatre artists, reaching out and serving our community, and creating exciting and challenging theatrical experiences. I came to Los Angeles searching for a way to pay my bills while still being true to my artistic sensibilities. I found this task to be an increasingly difficult one as the “business” side seemed to value everything else about me except my integrity and talent as an artist. XRT aims to change all that – to become a place that values artistic integrity and challenges its students and members to live truthfully – in every sense of the phrase. XRT aims to become a world renowned destination for theatre artists of all backgrounds and talents, a place that they can call home and create great work.
Why I Do What I Do…: XRT is a place of joy, and I am truly blessed to be able to be a part of it. I am continually pushed above and beyond my comfort zone as well as my own expectations. Having worked in the corporate world for almost five years, I’m able to combine my business knowledge with my theatrical training and experience to create a theatre – a home – that I believe in.
Did You Know? Aaryn Kopp is a fan of The West Wing, Mad Men & 30 Rock. She loves skiing, running and Trivial Pursuit and is a world renowned parallel parker.
