Studio X/Change Program
StudioX/Change Program
The X Repertory Theatre and Studio XRT strive to be exciting and influential members of the global theatre community. In an age where everything is moving towards globalization, we believe theatre should be no exception. Determined to be at the forefront of this global effort, XRT and Studio XRT will work hand in hand to form exclusive working relationships with groundbreaking theatres from around the world. This exchange will act as an International Theatrical Superhighway connecting our young artists with masters from all disciplines and cultures, while at the same time, granting foreign students the ability to explore their theatrical craft with the faculty of Studio XRT.
The StudioX/Change program will serve as the culminating project for studio training. With their second year of training complete, students will be given the opportunity to travel and study in a premier acting school abroad. Along with workshops and classes, students would be afforded the chance to see various forms of theatre and art in their host city. Our young artists will also create and produce work in collaboration with foreign actors, directors, and designers, which will be performed before foreign audiences.
Collaborations such as this have been offered by various other institutions such as the Moscow Art Theatre School and Harvard University, the London International School of Performing Arts and Naropa University, Toi Whakaari (New Zealand Drama School) and California Institute of the Arts. The founders of the XRTC sincerely believe, drawing from personal training experience, in the necessity for cultural and artistic exchange. In working with our international theatrical partners Studio XRT will present young artists, both at home and abroad, with a unique opportunity to play and learn in worlds otherwise unknown.
