Community X is X Repertory Theatre’s outreach department.  We are at the forefront of bridging the divide between the members of the theatre community and the needs of greater Los Angeles.

100305_labf_155Community X Will Benefit:
Underserved Youth
Developmentally Disabled
Senior Citizens
Prisons and Juvenile Detention Centers

Community X Will Offer:
Public Service Theater will bring performances with a social message into public schools, juvenile detention facilities and community centers that will open a dialogue designed to challenge young minds.
The Street Art Project will actively engage our community youth by giving them a forum and venue to unlock their creative potential through the creation of murals and street art.
ACTivate Miracles will offer acting and performance classes to the developmentally disabled community emphasizing social interaction, practical life skills and emotional expression through the arts.
Untold Stories will guide underserved youth in the writing and performance of works that they create around their own personal experience.
Mad Hot Movies will help teenagers explore their own reactions to film and media by deconstructing how movies work.

Who Is Community X?100305_labf_245
Community X is made up of XRT’s theatre community of students and company members dedicated to significant outreach efforts.   XRT is unique in that we require all of our students to volunteer two hours of their time and talents per month in any of the programs above, as well as other community outreach organizations we partner with.

Community X is overseen by Richard Martinez with the help of  XRT company members. Together they bring years of experience working in arts outreach programs across the country along with advanced degrees in fine arts.
